Licensed

Licensed radios allow the user to operate with more power for a bigger range, and operate on Ofcom approved frequencies that should have fewer users on than the PMR446 license free channels. Ofcom licences come in a variety of forms, from a simple “UK General” which gives 3 frequencies that can be used anywhere in the country, though to a Technically Assigned licence, where Ofcom undertake an area survey to ensure that you are allocated the best available frequency, with the least likelihood of interference from other users. This type of licence can only be used with a fixed area, such as a college campus, shopping centre, or factory.
